Citizens is a bar-forward restaurant located in Salt Lake City’s Downtown district. MVA was brought on to lead interior design and full FF&E sourcing for this locally owned concept, creating a distinct yet welcoming experience for daytime diners and nighttime drinkers alike. The arched entry and sculptural bar anchor the space, softened by earthy textures, warm plaster, and tailored seating. We designed and sourced custom furnishings and finishes across multiple vendors to achieve a polished but unpretentious vibe that resonates with the neighborhood’s creative energy.

Design That Balances Grit & Glow
Citizens sits at the intersection of classic hospitality and contemporary edge. Our goal was to create a space that felt established on day one—layered, tactile, and story-driven. The sweeping arched bar was custom designed to act as both a visual anchor and performance zone, supported by playful color blocking and bold material contrasts.
Every Detail Counts
From the powder-coated stool bases to the custom wood bar shelving, every detail in Citizens was intentionally chosen and globally sourced. The layout encourages fluid transitions from coffee to cocktails, supporting the dual rhythm of the brand and maximizing seating efficiency without sacrificing mood or intimacy.
